Luce (LUCE), a Solana coin based on the cartoon mascot for the upcoming Catholic Holy Year has risen in value after a listing of futures on Bybit, a major exchange. This continued the hot streak of the token which was only minted three week ago.
Bybit now offers up to 12.5% leverage on the coin. “Innovation Zone”—a designated section for coins that are inherently more risky and volatile, and come with higher trading fees.
Luce “light” In Italian, she was chosen as the Catholic Church mascot to represent the upcoming Jubilee. This is a Holy Year celebration that occurs once every 25 years, during which Roman Catholics can be forgiven of their sins, under certain conditions. She was designed to better connect with young people and revealed at a press conference on October 28, she has bright blue hair and a yellow raincoat. An orange cross necklace completes her look.
It took only hours after the unveiling for Luce to move from the podium to Pump.fun, where the corresponding (and to be clear, unofficial) meme coin—LUCE—was created.
The coin was immediately popular with crypto-natives due to the similarity it shares with Milady Maker. This is a popular NFT series in crypto circles, which has a cult like following.
In just two days, the token went from Pump.fun’s homepage to a market cap exceeding $80 million. This provided early traders with a windfall of over $425,000. According to DEX Screener, a top trader who bought 24 million LUCE Tokens at 15 SOL during early trading made more than $425,000.
While Luce’s rapid rise and considerable trading volumes—more than $100 million worth in the last 24 hours—may have given rise to the Bybit perpetual contract listing, it could also earn Luce a spot listing on Bybit as well.
Bybit announced that Luce will also be included in its ByVotes initiative, which allows token holders to vote for its inclusion on Bybit’s Spot Adventure Zone listings.
From November 20-22, holders of LUCE tokens who have deposited their tokens at Bybit are eligible to vote to try and push Luce over the listing threshold. Those who vote, if successful, will be able to share a pool worth more than 1,000,000 LUCE. This is about $250,000 in current prices.
Luce, which is only 22 days old on Pump.fun, has the ninth largest market cap among all Solana tokens ever created. Luce is up 47% over the last week—and 893% over 14 days.
