The former Chief architect of Coinbase has returned as the head platform.
Emilie Choi, Coinbase’s Chief Operating officer wrote a blog on December 2 that Rob Witoff had led security and the infrastructure of the company from 2014-2017 before forming cold storage company Unit 410. The company has added him to its executive team this week.
“Rob embodies what it is to be a builder,” Choi wrote. “He cares deeply about crypto, developer productivity and empowerment, and creating a seamless user experience.”
21.co also made an executive appointment — multiple in fact.
It was revealed by the crypto-focused firm that they would be operating two different business units: 21Shares, and 21.co Technology. In order to make this change, Russell Barlow was named 21Shares CEO.
Overseeing the asset management and ETP business, Barlow will report to Hany Rashwan and Ophelia Snyder — 21.co co-founders who are now 21Shares co-chairs.
Barlow was the global head of multi-asset and alternative investments for UK investment firm abrdn. Duncan Moir and Edel Basehir are also ex-executives of abrdn. They were selected as 21Shares President and COO.
Finally, Andres Valencia — with 21Shares since 2021 — is now its executive vice president of investment management.
Chainalysis also announced that Jonathan Levin would take over as CEO this week. Levin is currently the cofounder of the firm and its chief strategy officer.
“As CEO, I look forward to continuing to deliver cutting edge data, investigations and risk solutions to our customers while also pursuing new market opportunities,” Levin stated in a press release.
A life insurance company that uses bitcoins appointed a compliance officer. Alice Tregunna, who was the Compliance and Financial Crime Lead at EY before that, is expected to take on this position.
Finally, Solana Foundation strategy head Austin Federa said he would depart the nonprofit to create DoubleZero, a network of fiber and subsea cables meant to establish a “new internet.”
