The crypto payment company Helio announced on Thursday that it has upgraded its Solana Pay Shopify plug-in.
The plugin allows businesses to use the Solana payment network for their e-commerce platforms. This plugin has a transaction fee of 0.75%, lower than that charged by most credit card companies.
This new plugin version adds: “hundreds” There are many cryptocurrencies which can be used to make payments. Blockworks was shown a video of possible cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, ether and solana. PayPal PYUSD and memecoins such as ORE and Mother were also included. Previously the plugin would only accept USDC.
Jupiter lets merchants automatically switch from the various coins accepted to stablecoins.
This upgrade allows users to onramp cryptocurrency into their wallets using fiat, and merchants can offramp it into fiat instantly. The upgrade streamlines checkout processes and allows for merchants to provide features like NFT Airdrops and Allow Lists.
Shopify does not assist in upgrades. Anybody can submit a request to have a Shopify App Store plugin added. Helio CEO Stijn PAUMEN told Blockworks that Helio led Shopify’s initial integration of the Solana Pay created by Solana Labs in August. Helio will take over the operations for the integration in December 2023 from the Solana Foundation, Paumen stated.
If there’s an institution-related takeaway here, it’s perhaps that PYUSD on Solana now has a payments-related use case — something PayPal had hoped for when it made the deployment in late May.
Helio announced in a release that its Shopify plugin had generated $50 million of sales since December 2023. This was achieved through partnership with 200+ stores. Helio-Solana Pay is used by anti-aging celebrity Bryan Johnson, who’s a Helio customer. Solana Labs also uses the plugin to solicit preorders of the second Solana Mobile.
Paumen stated that Shopify will be able to accept payments in Ethereum, BNB as well as more than ten other blockchains.
