Eclipse today launched the mainnet for public use.
Eclipse is a general-purpose Ethereum L2, with an interesting twist. The L2 is powered by Solana’s Virtual Machine for execution. Celestia provides data accessibility, Ethereum handles settlement and consensus, and Ethereum uses Ethereum.
Eclipse offers the unique combination of Ethereum’s liquidity ecosystem, and the SVM model’s superior parallel transaction processing.
Vijay Chetty said about the launch, ” “Eclipse is uniquely positioned as the first solution to bridge the gap between Solana and Ethereum, offering a powerful platform that caters to both communities. Our goal is to empower developers from both ecosystems to build and scale their dapps like never before, unlocking new opportunities across the largest networks in the industry.”
Eclipse says that there will be at least 60 Dapps, and providers of services at the launch.
Eclipse also took it upon themselves to lead the DeFi eco-system by introducing tETH. It is an aggregated restaking coin that brings together most restaking liquid coins such as ether.fi., Renzo., Puffer. and Swell. into one unified token.
Eclipse isn’t the only one working to bring the SVM technology to Ethereum, but it has been leading the way.
