While markets react to Trump’s latest announcements on tariffs, the President is preparing his first address to Congress this evening.
His speech is expected to be a defense of the new taxes placed on Mexico Canada and China.
He may also touch upon the budget of the United States, which will lead to a shutdown if Congress does not pass it in the next ten days. It wouldn’t shock us if, after the conversation in the Oval Office with Ukrainian President Zelensky, he goes on defense.
“TOMORROW WILL BE BIG. I WILL TELL IT LIKE IT IS!” The president shared his thoughts in an Truth Social posting last night. He didn’t share his honest thoughts or feelings, as if there was any expectation.
Trump is unlikely to mention the stock market’s tumble or cryptocurrency. We expect that if he mentions the economy, he will talk about investments made in US AI and tech initiatives such as Apple’s $500 billion investment.
Trump may comment about the crypto-reserve he initially announced on the weekend. He’ll need Congressional approval for it to be operational.
He delivered his speech just days before the White House’s first-ever crypto summit which begins on Friday. Guest list is still under wraps. Federal officials including AI and Crypto czar David Sacks as well as digital asset working groups executive director Bo Hines will be attending.
