Apple (AAPL) agreed this week to a proposed $95,000 million settlement as part of a lawsuit claiming that private conversations recorded by customers after Siri was accidentally activated were shared with contractors.
The settlement could apply to anyone who owned a Siri enabled device between Sept. 17 and Oct. 31, 2014. The claimant will be required to swear that Siri was accidentally activated and they were recording a conversation that they believed would remain private. The proposed settlement would cap payouts at $100 per person—$20 per device, up to five devices.
Apple Contractors Heard private Conversations
The lawsuit followed an article from The Guardian in 2019 that claimed Siri recorded private conversations. “regularly” Non-Apple Employees can hear the Apple employees.
