GameStop’s (GME) shares and others meme stocks soared Thursday following the posting of Roaring Kitty to X, Keith Gill’s online alias.

Gill, at 1:45 p.m. On Thursday at ET, Gill posted a picture of a fake TIME Magazine featuring only a keyboard and monitor from a desktop. The post was viewed more than 3.1 millions times as of 3:45 pm.
Gill, who has 1.6 millions followers on X (a social media platform), has posted cryptic images and messages to X. In early September, he created a frenzy by posting a picture that some interpreted as an indication that he sold a portion of his large position in Chewy. The post caused GameStop to surge and Chewy’s stock price plummet.
Gill has taken a hiatus after becoming the face of 2021 meme stocks. In May, he returned with a flood of posts to X and since then has posted sporadically. Each time triggering a flurry speculation.
GameStop and AMC pared their gains later in Thursday's session. The two were respectively up 6% and 5.5% at 3:45. ET.
