Trump’s first round of executive orders includes no tariffs

Donald Trump’s presidency began with executive orders that advanced his agenda. However, he did not impose the tariffs which he threatened on his first official day.

Trump issued a series of orders on Monday hours after his inauguration. These included: reducing the hiring of federal workers, freezing regulations and withdrawing from a treaty against global warming. He also took steps to promote domestic energy production as well as reduce costs for consumers.

The tariffs that he threatened to levied against Canada, Mexico and China were not included in his first set of orders. “Day One” It is a reflection of the nature and character of his presidency. Trump told reporters late on Monday that his administration was considering 25% tariffs against Mexico and Canada with an expected date of February 1.

The executive orders issued on Monday were a flurry.

  • The Federal Agencies “deliver emergency price relief, consistent with applicable law, to the American people and increase the prosperity of the American worker.”
  • Directed to Take Action: Heads of Departments and Agencies Boost energy resourcesAs part of the National Energy Emergency declaration.
  • Federal Regulations The government will be frozen until Trump’s appointees are in full control.
  • Federal hiring The only exception is the military.
  • The U.S. Reject the Paris Climate TreatyA global agreement on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Immigration laws The law will be enforced “all inadmissible and removable aliens, particularly those aliens who threaten the safety or security of the American people.”
